SO that means that 1+ cups of coffee we love in the AM, it's a masterpiece when it's from brewers who view repairing the world around them as essential to how they do business.

These 6 brands are having big systematic impact. In this list we flag what these brands are doing in certification, at their facilities, and in social and sustainable practices.

Wonderstate

Roastery: "with the exception of our vintage Probat gas-powered roasters and winter heating, our entire roastery, offices and production floor are powered by a 96 panel, 30-Kilowatt solar array that sits just outside our front door."

Social: pay transparency, industry-leading minimum price guarantee to farmers, and "every year we donate 5% of our profits to community-based initiatives that support a more equitable and resilient future in the coffee industry and beyond."

Sustainable: "in 2020, 96.5% of all coffee we purchased was organic. We donate $.03 per pound of coffee we purchase through Cooperative Coffee to their Impact Fund, which supports farmer education and regenerative agriculture practices to cultivate climate resilience. In 2020, Wonderstate committed to being “carbon responsible”. We worked with a third party organization to set up a system to track our carbon impact. We offset emissions with donations to climate resilience groups.

Social: long-term relationships with producer partners, sharing data designed to " to leverage the power of industry wide transparency. The hope is that by contributing our data we help the industry come to a better understanding of sustainable pricing levels for coffee farmers in Asia, Africa and Latin America."

Sustainable: "by negotiating transparently and paying higher prices for better quality coffee, our partners have the resources to sustainably manage their natural resources and invest in schools, hospitals and infrastructure. When visiting suppliers we tour projects they are involved with and brainstorm how we can best support their efforts. In many cases our support is baked into the price we pay for the coffee; in other cases we support projects directly."
